Shoulder Pain

Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is made of two joints, making it the most flexible joint in the body. It’s a complex system of tendons, muscles and ligaments, allowing for a wide range of motion so we can perform a variety of movements. When complications develop within the bones or tissues, you may experience intense pain, stiffness and limited mobility. If you’re experiencing discomfort, Maximum Health Clinic of Chiropractic is here to assist you. Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints among our patients. We provide numerous treatments to reduce your symptoms while increasing full-body wellbeing in the long term.

Common Causes of Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is comprised of three main bones: the humerus, or your upper arm bone, the scapula, or shoulder blade, and the clavicle, or collarbone. There are many conditions that can impact how these structures function, such as:

  • Bursitis. The bursae are fluid-filled sacs in the joints that act as lubrication to reduce friction. These sacs may become swollen after injury or overuse, causing bursitis. Pain makes it hard to do activities that involve lifting your arms, such as getting dressed or styling your hair.
  • Tendinitis. Tendons are the tissues that connect bones and muscles. When the tendon becomes inflamed, it results in tendinitis, which may be acute or chronic depending on the cause. This condition may affect the rotator cuff, a group of tendons and muscles surrounding the shoulder joint.
  • Dislocation. A dislocation occurs when the ball of the shoulder joint is partially or completely dislodged. Since the shoulder is the most mobile joint, it is especially susceptible to dislocation.
  • Tendon Tears. Degenerative diseases due to age can cause tendons to tear and split, separating them from the bone.
  • Arthritis. Arthritis impacts joints throughout the body, including those that make up the shoulder. An osteoarthritic shoulder produces symptoms including stiffness and pain. It develops slowly and often worsens due to age.

Chiropractic Improves the Condition

At Maximum Health Clinic of Chiropractic, we’ll discuss your health condition to ensure you receive the exact care you need. Considering how shoulder pain has several potential causes, finding the root cause is important.

Chiropractic works by relieving swelling, inflammation and stiffness associated with the injury or health condition that you have. At Maximum Health Clinic of Chiropractic, we utilize a wide range of chiropractic techniques to relieve your worst symptoms while prioritizing long-term healing. Our services encompass numerous holistic treatments for pain. No matter what kinds of symptoms you’re having, our compassionate team can help you heal.

A few of the benefits of chiropractic care include:

  • Increased Range of Motion. When your shoulder is stiff and sore, simply moving your shoulder can generate a large amount of discomfort. Chiropractic appointments make it easier to move the joint.
  • Reduced inflammation. Many causes of shoulder pain are worsened or even caused by inflammation, which is swelling due to an immune response.
  • Long-Term Healing. Studies suggest that chiropractic may improve the body’s healing response.
